Ok, well not technically surgery - but a small procedure (prayerfully small). Graham has a piece of glass stuck in the pad of his right hand.
Look at how cute his hand is. The glass is right below his ring finger...see it? Disregard the glowing blue spot in every picture - I think that must be the light bulb I am holding the x-rays up to. The glass looks like an extension of his ring finger bone.
It's kind of a weird freak accident...Mike took G for a walk with Landry a month or so ago while I was getting ready for church. All the sudden Mike comes busting in the back door with my big boy bleeding. He was apparently running and doing his "im so silly crazy legs run" (which is always good for lots of laughs) and he tripped and fell....not shocking. However, this time he fell on a broken beer bottle. He cried for just a brief minute, we cleaned it up and off we went. We were religious to check on it everyday and when he started using his hand like normal in the following days we continued to monitor it, but figured it was fine.
Now a month later, he has a raised spot so we wanted to get the Doc to check it out...he sent us for X-Ray's and here we are today. Please forward your parenting awards to our home address! If you would like to ask us parenting advice, we are always available. Jeez!
So now my sweet Mister has to be sedated on Monday at 9am to get the glass removed. The Doc feels like the glass is right at the surface, so it should be an in and out deal.
I'm still REALLY nervous. I don't like him to take drugs and the one they are using is Ketamine (street name Special K - according to Dr. Harper, who uses it daily on horses - WEIRD)...it will put him under for an hour or so and then he will be back to normal. The Doc says it will be really "freaky" to see him in a catatonic drug induced haze. I'm not looking forward to it, but it needs to come out and I am thankful that I get to hold him in the comfort of my Doc's office while the procedure is done.
So will you please pray for G?
1. Wisdom and sharpness for Dr. Chartrand
2. No side effects or negative outcomes with Ketamine
2. Easy removal of the glass
3. For G to be strong and courageous
4. For me to "Keep it together" or in G's words "i ok?" "i ok?"
Let's Hear it for Prohibition
ok, more seriously..
Let's Hear it for the only ONE we can put our TRUST in
